Mariam Sukhudyan is well-known to many people as an environmental activist but she has been revealed as a painter recently.
“I have technical education as I graduated from Polytechnic University. During the lectures I was scrabbling on the back pages of my note books. I mostly draw ornaments. I haven’t
attended any art school and draw whatever comes out. Life inspires me. One can find ornaments everywhere: in structures of fruits and vegetables, on the wings of butterflies and bodies of caterpillars, in snowflakes, tree barks and in our eyes,” Mariam says.
The exhibition titled "The Beat of Nature" is dedicated to the International Mother Earth Day (April 22) and to the Sustainable Development Goals which will allow us achieving the future we want by 2030.
Mariam’s drawings can be colored, and children like adding colors as to their taste and perception.
During the opening event of the exhibition UN Armenia will host a group of children from Gavar’s orphanage and a group of Syrian-Armenian children who will color the duplicates of Mariam’s drawings.
The participants of the event will enjoy the performances of ԽԱԶԵՐ Khazerchoir and Տիեզերք band / Tiezerk Band.
